what is the best type of camcorder?

Jodie Capella: Flash memory is easy to use and upload to computer. If you want good video quality I suggest HD camcorder.http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&loc...

Reginald Maxi: "Best" for what?Video quality? MiniDV tape - but the camcorder you select will have a big bearing on that video quality, not just the storage media. Since DV and HDV formats compress the least, they discard the least data and the result is best available video quality when compared to other consumer camcorder storage media types. But MiniDV tape camcorder mean your computer needs to have a firewire port - and if it does not have one, you need to be willing (and able) to add one.If your computer has no firewire port and you are not able - or willing - to add one, then your next best choice is flash memory. The video files save to flash memory are the same as hard disc drive camcorders so the video quality from both is the same if the camera lenses and electronics are the same, but ! flash memory does not have the baggage (problems with vibration, high altitude and several other known issues) HDD camcorders have.Standard definition DVD camcorders record to VERY compressed VOB files that were never menat to be edited. Stay very far away from them. They barely make useful doorstops.High definition consumer HDD, flash memory and DVD camcorders all save to very compressed AVCHD/MTS files. Before you buy one of these, be sure your computer and your video editor can deal with these files. If you plan on recording loud audio, you will need manual audio control. If you plan on recording things at a distance, a lot of optical zoom would be appropriate. If you want high definition, then you need that option - a standard def camcorder won't provide it.If you want zero-light video capture, then you need a camcorder that can record in zero light...These capabilities have nothing to do with the storage media used....Show more

Vickie Sterbenz: get a flash memory. T! he battery life on a flash memory camcorder usually last longe! r and you don't need any cables to plug into your computer to upload it on youtube or any other sites.
