Jonelle Eligio: The 787 is supposed to replace the 767 and some smaller capacity versions of the 777 as it is up to 20% more efficient, I believe.
Cyndy Grimes: The 787 (and presumably the A350 when it comes) are essentially replacements for earlier generation medium haul wide-body aircraft (B767, A300/A310 and similar, and some narrow body models too (some B757's and similar). While in the US Boeing is claiming that a point-to-point system will replace the currently dominant hub-and-spoke system, this will generally not be the case outside the contiguous US, and this will become the majority market..The 787 (and A350) will also replace less efficient aircraft. in medium range routes, such as the Airbus A-340, which is better suited to ultra-long range work but is fairly inefficient by today's standards. Early 777's and A330's will be replaced fairly soon as well, certainly within the next several years as airlines update their fleets....Show more
Manual Burti! s: Boeing's original intent was the 787 was to replace the 767.
Hope Lundmark: i thought they were goin to replace the 757's but im not too sure.....
Kirk Coolbeth: 1
Esteban Lyson: it could replace a variety of aircraft...I'm guessing it mostly depends on the airline that's buying it. A 757 would be reasonable, as well as maybe a few A321's or so.
